Alexandria Airpark
Molen Design created the passenger air terminal design and architectural design standards for Alexandria Airpark, along with the design and master plan. The design was developed with an eye to the historical area in Alexandria, Louisiana where it is located.
The interior space of the terminal features a waterfall fountain in a nod to the rapids of Rapides County where the project is built. In the 1700's and 1800’s, cargo going up the Red River had to be portaged by cart around the rapids, leading to the establishment of a thriving trade post. As a result, the city of Alexandria was born.
The project has been well received by the community, and has also won numerous design awards, while being featured in a number of architectural and design publications.
